Paris Travel Tour Highlights

Paris is well-known for the city of Light, la Ville Lumière. To me, Paris is also called as  the city that (literally) never sleeps since it is brighten with street lights throughout the night. As the moment, I was about to arrive at Charles de Gaulle (Paris International Airport) in early wee hours, I could see the whole metropolitan city filled with lights from the sky.

In order to adapt the culture in Europe, I began to learn some basic French greetings, tipping guidelines (between 10%-15% in cash for the restaurant service) as well as to round up the taxi fares. It is a custom to tip hotel staff for baggage handling and room service. Most of the restaurants, public transportation, tickets purchasing at  attraction sites and souvenir shops do not provide the exact loose change so, you need to prepare some small notes before the trip begins.

The most culture shocking during my trip in Europe where I couldn't find public toilets (bathrooms) in the cities of France and Italy. I couldn't believe that the basic utility such as toilet isn't accessible to the public in a developed country. Thus, you can smell urine  everywhere in a subway station or at the bank of the river as the public couldn't resist the urge to release it since the public toilets aren't available on the streets.

In order to use toilets in restaurants, you have to dine there or buy food at the outlets. There are some hotels restrict their toilets at lobby to their guests who stay in their respective hotels. In my case, I had to swipe my room card on the door of the toilet, at lobby of my hotel in Paris. Do NOT be surprised that the operators have the authorities to stop you from walking into restaurants and hotels when you request for toilets. Some operators request you to pay 50 cents (per person) in order to use the toilet since you aren't the guest in a restaurant or food outlet.

Here is my highlights of my trip in Paris which I will share the detailed of every attraction in my next post. Stay Tune!

You can see a huge factory from the main street but it has been transformed into a large art gallery to display all kinds of arts collection. You are able to see all kinds of artistic pieces and products such as Chinese and Modern painting as well as sculpture.
