Spanish Steps & Trevi Fountain, Rome, Italy

There are some famous Roman Attraction sites or also known as "Roman Highlights" which you must visit while traveling to Rome, Italy. The Roman Highlights include Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Via dei Condotti which are situated within walking distances from each other. I will share some information and pictures of Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain in this post while the remaining of the Roman Highlights will be highlighted in my new post.

Spanish Steps is the stairway at the steep slope between Piazza di Spagna or Spanish Square and on the top hill of Piazza Trinità dei Monti in the city of Rome, Italy. Piazza di Spagna is the most popular meeting place and crowded with tourists and locals in Rome. There is a small fountain with the design of a small boat was inspired by the flooding and stranded boat of the Tevere in 1598. The fountain is named as Fontana della Barcaccia, which is situated in front of Spanish Steps. When you get to the top level of the Spanish Steps, you will find a beautiful French church which is known as Trinità dei Monti. Trinità dei Monti is located on top of the hill along the small valley of Piazza della Trinità dei Monti.

Then we headed to Trevi Fountain which is situated not far away from Spanish Steps. The Fontana di Trevi or Trevi Fountain is also another famous attraction site and the largest fountain in Rome, which is located a short walking distance from Spanish Steps. Majority of the tourists will take this opportunity to toss coins over their back of their shoulders into the water of Trevi Fountain in the hope to return to Rome one day.

Villa Borghese & Piazza del Popolo, Rome, Italy

Villa Borghese is a large public park in the city of Rome, Italy. It is located at the north of the Spanish Steps, where you can walk to the Borghese park from Piazza del Popolo. While you stroll along the Borghese park, you will begin to feel very relaxing and stress free, which is totally different from exploring in the busy city in Rome. Moreover, the park is so quiet till you can hear some chirping birds.

In the beginning, Villa Borghese was built as a private park, under the possession of the wealthy Borghese family which later, it became the government property in 1901. Subsequently, the park opened to the public until now. The park houses several museums, a zoo, an artificial lake, a riding school, an amphitheater and numerous fountains and statues. The most famous museum is the Museo e Galleria Borghese which displays a collection of sculptures with some important works by Canova and Bernini and also a collection of paintings from several famous artistes including Titian, Rubens and Raphael. Museo e Galleria Borghese opens to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9am to 7pm. It closes every Monday.
