UNESCO Cologne Cathedral, Germany

Spending my cloudy afternoon strolling around the downtown of Cologne (or also known as Köln) in Germany. Cologne is situated along the Rhine River which is a highly populated metropolitan city with more than ten million inhabitant.

Cologne Cathedral is well-known for its major tourist attraction and also, the famous landmark in the downtown of Cologne. Cologne Cathedral was built in 1248 but managed to be completed to the original plan in 1880, after it was halted with unfinished construction in 1473. The Cologne Cathedral was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1996 and has been listed as one of the "World Heritage in Danger" in 2004 but eventually it has been removed from the list, following the authorities' decision to restrict the construction of high-rise buildings nearby the cathedral.
