Hong Kong Trip Planning Itinerary

It is not easy for me to plan the trip itinerary without knowing the geographical locations and its surroundings. When I planned for my trip to Hong Kong for three days, it took me at least 1-2 weeks to revise the routes and trying  to include as many attraction places as I could in Hong Kong.

Searching for an accommodation in Hong Kong isn't as easy as you can think of, since there are many budget hotels located within the Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Mongkok districts. It is costly to stay at Hong Kong Island thus, you should search for affordable accommodation which is situated within walking distance to MTR subway station in Kowloon and Mongkok districts. Kowloon and Mongkok districts have become tourists' favourite locations to search for affordable accommodation and various eateries as well as to do shopping activities besides, they are situated within 10-15 minutes by MTR train and a short walking to the Star Ferry Pier before crossing along Victoria Harbour to Hong Kong Island.

This is my 3 days itinerary in Hong Kong as a guideline for your trip planning:

DAY ONE:
i) Kowloon:
   - Tsim Sha Tsui + 1881 Heritage + Clock Tower + Charlie Brown's Cafe
ii) Riding on Big Bus Tours Hong Kong to travel around Kowloon district
iii)Mongkok:
   - Langham Place and its shoplots within Langham Place
iv) Night View at Hong Kong:
  - Walking along or riding on a public bus to see the nightlife along Nathan Road of Kowloon district
  - Ladies Market or Temple Street Night Market opens until wee hour

DAY TWO:
i) Traveling on a normal Star Ferry from Star Ferry Pier No. 7 at Tsim Sha Tsui to get across Victoria Harbour to Hong Kong Island
iii) Visit Victoria Peak Tram
vi) Traveling by Star Ferry from Central or Wan Chai Pier in Hong Kong Island to Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon at night to enjoy beautiful lit up skyscrappers along Victoria Harbour

DAY THREE:
ii) Wong Tai Shin Temple (takes about 1 hour)

(Note: This trip planning doesn't include a day trip to Hong Kong Disneyland as well as a day trip to Ocean Park Hong Kong.)

Langham Place, Times Square & SoHo Central MId-Levels Escalators in Hong Kong

If you are the fan of Running Man (Korean Variety Show) then, you should remember that the running man hosts had participated in a race at SoHo Central Mid-Levels Escalators.

SoHo Central Mid-Levels Escalators is the longest outdoor escalator in the world which connects the Central and Western District on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. The Central Mid-Levels Escalator consists of many sub-sections of small escalators at the length of 800 metres (2,600 ft) long. SoHo is also known as South of Hollywood Road which offers a list of international restaurants, eateries, pubs, cafes etc. for the locals and tourists. I think, SoHo would be more popular as it is more diversified to reach different markets compared to Lan Kwai Fong street which caters for drinking and clubbing only.

How to get there?
SoHo Central Mid-Levels Escalators:
MTR Subway Train: Get off at MTR Central station and Exit at D2. Turn right on Queen's Road Central and head towards Central Market.

On the other hand, Hong Kong is a shopping heaven with tax free for the locals and tourists. There are many huge shopping malls located at Kowloon district and Hong Kong Island. Langham Place is one of the most visited shopping mall which is situated in Mongkok area of Kowloon district in Hong Kong. It is one of the skyscraper shopping malls which offers many unique small boutique stores and variety of eateries stores to try. For those who love some adventure, you can try taking the "Xpresscalators" from the 4th floor leading to the 8th floor while another escalator leads you from 8th floor to the 12th floor.

Sogo shopping mall and Times Square are also famous shopping malls located at Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong. There are many latest fashions as well as international and high-end brands are available in these shopping malls. Beside that, there are many boutique stores and fashion outlets which are located within Sogo shopping mall and Times Square which turns into the most popular shopping centers and night entertainment places.

How to get there?
a) Langham Place shopping mall:

Ngong Ping 360 Village, Lantau Island, Hong Kong

Ngong Ping Village is one of the top 10 attraction to visit in Hong Kong. However, traveling to Ngong Ping Village will not complete without riding on cable car which transports visitors from Tung Chung Cable Terminal to Ngong Ping Village and vice versa. Visitors can enjoy 360 degrees of scenic panoramic view which is surrounded by mountains, the vast distance of South China Sea and Tung Chung bay for about 25-30 minute ride.

Ngong Ping Village is situated outside the city of Hong Kong which takes about the journey of 30 minute ride to Tung Chung station by MTR subway train (on Tung Chung line) in a single way. It is advisable to spend a day trip at Ngong Ping Village and its surrounding area of Lantau Island in order to enjoy the nature scenery and outdoor sports activities. There are some attractive combination packages which include the cable car ride, Ngong Ping Village and its surrounding area of Lantau Island from the ticket counter at Tung Chung Cable Terminal or visit the official website HERE.

There are many places to explore such as Walking with Buddha Exhibition, Mongkey's Tale Theatre, the Big Buddha Statue (Tian Tan Buddha) and Po Lin Monastery, Bodhi Path with the line up of 12 Divine Generals Statues, Wisdom Path and a Wishing Tree to make your wish with a wishing card at Ngong Ping Village. Beside that, there is a Chinese temple with various kinds of vegetarian meals at reasonable price, is situated after passing through Ngong Ping Piazza of Ngong Ping Village

Tung Chung Cable Terminal offers two types of cable car; standard cabin and crystal cabin. Crystal cabin is equipped with a glass bottom so that the visitors are able to enjoy scenic view and feel like "flying" through greenery mountains and Tung Chung bay to and fro Ngong Ping Village. Hence, I decided to ride on crystal cabin for my first time.

Tung Chung Cable Terminal operates from 10am to 6pm on weekdays and begins an hour earlier on weekends. Ngong Ping 360 cable car ride is very popular and crowded among the locals and tourists thus, it is recommended to get there as early as possible.
