Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hanoi, Vietnam

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a large and historic memorial in Hanoi, Vietnam. It is the memorial hall where the Vietminh leader and Chairman of the Communist Part of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh is buried here.

Ho Chi Minh was a key figure in the foundation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam in 1945 as well as the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) and the Viet cong during the Vietnam War. He also led the Viet Minh independence movement and establishing the communist-ruled Democratic Republic of Vietnam after the unification between North and South of Vietnam.

We went to Hanoi, Vietnam during the long weekend of Vietnam Reunification Day which is the major public holidays for Vietnamese. We hadn't seen the long queue and overcrowded with the locals who traveled all the way to Hanoi in order to pay respect to Uncle Ho Chi Minh who's resting in the glass. The locals respected Uncle Ho Chi Minh as their hero and also their Father of Unification between North and South after defeating the French military in the South. I hadn't experienced a similar incident from other mausoleums outside of Vietnam.

We followed the long queue and walked from the back of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to Botanical Garden but we still stranded in the long crowded queue for over two hours. We were exhausted and sweating, after standing in the queue for a long hours. Our tour guide decided to give a try and requested a favor from his friend there, who's able to give us a shortcut access to the mausoleum.

The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is closed on Monday and Friday but open the rest of the week. All visitors have to abide to strict regulations and dress code while visiting Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Visitors have to cover their shoulders, arms and legs with long sleeve of blouse, shirts, long pants or long skirts. It's forbidden to carry big bags, camera and hats to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Visitors have to remain silent all the time and aren't allowed to take pictures in the mausoleum.

Beautiful Hanoi, Vietnam

I couldn't forget the beauty of the city and the friendliness of the local people in Hanoi, Vietnam. It was unforgettable for me, being the first time traveling to Hanoi and received a good impression of the places and people over there. We were told that the mentality and culture from the North (i.e Hanoi city) and South (i.e Ho Chi Minh city) of Vietnam are totally different since, they were occupied by Vietnamese and French respectively. The locals in the North region of Vietnam like, Hanoi deveop the typical Asian and Chinese mentality where they spend thrifty for the sake of their children's future and education while, the locals from the South region of Vietnam like, Ho Chi Minh spend lavishly in order to enjoy luxury lifestyle.

I hadn't been to Ho Chi Minh city but I believe it would leave disappointment in myself after receiving bad remarks from my friends' trips experience in Ho Chi Minh. I really enjoyed my one week trip in Hanoi as I loved the friendliness of the locals who didn't harassed the tourists to purchase souvenirs. They respected my decisions and walked away when I showed no interest to buying their products.

Hanoi is still a developing city but it also shows some laid-back lifestyle among the locals there. There aren't many foreign businesses like, fast food industries, shopping malls and hotels in Hanoi yet. Most of the businesses are run and occupied by the locals in terms of food, hotels, tour industry and craftsmanship. If you haven't experienced the laid-back lifestyle in a small town like, Hanoi then, you should try it. You will really appreciate the relaxing and easy lifestyle compared to the stressing and hectic lifestyle in the city.

Majority of Vietnamese don't speak English fluently thus, you might face some difficulty to converse while traveling alone around and outside of Hanoi city. Bargaining isn't a problem for them as they are able to negotiate with you in writing. However, public transportation isn't reliable outside of Hanoi city so, it's advisable to join the local tours over there.

The government also advises the tourists to book taxis and transportation from the hotels, airport staff and local tour agencies in order to prevent yourself from being swindled by illegal operations and taxi drivers at the airport as well as within and outside of Hanoi city.

United Nations (UN) New York Tour

Most tourists relate traveling to New York as the purposes of shopping and dining but there aren't many visitors aware of the interesting attraction such as a tour at United Nations Headquarter which is located  on the eastern shore of Manhattan Island in New York.

Every year, around 1 million visitors from around the world join the guided tour at United Nations Headquarter in New York. The tour to United Nations Headquarter is always full thus, it's advisable to book your ticket(s) online before your trips. There will be tight security screening at the main entrance of the United Nations Headquarter so, be there as early as possible, at least 45 minutes early for the security screening before the guided tour starts.

Joining the guided tour at the United Nations Headquarter in New York gives me a good educational tour and understanding of the role as the United Nations Peacekeeper to the world. However, it's pity that I didn't have the opportunity to meet the Secretary-General of the United Nations like, Kofi Annan and Ban Ki-Moon whom I really respect them.

To learn more about the guided tour to United Nations, please visit the official website HERE.
