Sun Moon Lake Temples for Blessings in Taiwan (Part 2)

Apart from enjoying the lake view and nature scenery at Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan, you should take this opportunity to visit Wenwu Temple and Xuanzang Temple to make a blessing wish. Wenwu Temple is devoted to the God of Literature, the God of war and Confucious while Xuanzang Temple is devoted to worship the remains of the monk Xuanzang and the golden Sakyamuni Buddha.

i) Xuanzang Temple:
Monk Xuanzang was the Holy Monk during the Tang dynasty. During the China-Japan War, Japanese took the Monk Xuanzang's remains away from Nanching to the Tsen Temple of Saidama Ken in Japan before the Monk Xuanzang's remains were returned back to the Xuanguang Temple in 1955. The Monk Xuanzang's remains were transferred to the Xuanzang Temple in 1965 after this temple was built.

ii) Wenwu Temple:
Wenwu Temple is situated at the shoulder of mountain and facing the North of the famous attraction, Sun Moon Lake. Wenwu Temple was built in 1938 as a contingency plan to protect from the flood disaster which may destroy Longfeng Temple and Ihuatang of Shuishotsun. Wenwu Temple represents both Longfeng Temple and Ihuatang as one temple. The visitors pray the Civil Saint of Confucious, the Military Saint of Guangong and the Established God of two temples at Wenwu Temple. They also make wishes and tie the gold bells on wrought-iron ladders.
